Unprecedented Aurora Borealis: A Solar Storm Lights Up Night Previously
A solar storm can occurred at any time of the year, and it lights up the night sky across the world.
Last night the world saw a great and powerful natural event as an intense solar storm allowed the sighting of the aurora borealis or northern lights in places that are far from it.
These people in Florida, a state which is generally located in the southern part of the United States and is not within the Auroral Zone, were marvellously mesmerized by the colours of the sky.
This has often brought together a spectacle that was wondrous and endlessly unique, compelling the viewers hailing from different regions of the world.
A Global Light Show
The night had been brightened considerably by auroras, which were caused by one of the strongest solar storms of recent years and had been observed in purple, green, yellow, and pink.
Such incredible shows triggered by the aurora borealis were reported across different regions of the world such as Germany, Switzerland, China, England, Spain, among others.
In Europe during the great geomagnetic storm in 1859 people in towns and countryside were able to observe the auroral displays which are generally observed in high latitude locations.
Auroras are seen for the first time in the southernmost region of the mainland of the United States
It observed lights as far south as Miami, FL National Weather Service office in the United States. This phenomenon stretched up south up to Fort Myers and even the Fort Lauderdale.
People living in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and other states in the north-central part of the United States of America were able to capture eye candies of the colourful horizon.
Continuing into the Weekend
Flashing across the sky tonight and for the coming days as well as weeks, the northern lights seem all set to stay well into the weekend.
The fact that this can be an extended show will open more people’s eyes and cameras to this marvel of nature.
Saturday night is also expected to be yet another active bursting of the auroras; indeed, the conditions are favorable in many places so that the view would not be obscured.
Minimal Disruptions Reported
However, despite the severity of the solar storm, few incidents have been reported in relation to power and telecommunication facilities so far.
Solar storms are known to disrupt satellite signals and power systems sometimes, but this scenic occurrence has only added beauty.
Officials still keep on alert though, in the event of any latent consequences on the technological and communication infrastructure.
