The Bermuda Triangle is an area of the Atlantic Ocean, in the shape of a triangle, where the corners are Bermuda, Florida, and Puerto Rico.

Thus, this region has been notorious for many ship and plane losses for a long time. The Bermuda Triangle, missing ships, and possible theories: in this blog post, we will discuss all of these.

The Bermuda Triangle

The phenomenon of the Bermuda Triangle was brought to the public’s attention in the 1950s, though the cases of unexplained incidents in this area go back centuries. It is even stated that Christopher Columbus had problems with the compass when crossing this region.

Lost Ships

Another well-known ship that was believed to have been lost in the Bermuda Triangle is the USS Cyclops. The first one, articulated in 1918, disappeared mid-Atlantic with over 300 people on board when traveling from Baltimore to Rio de Janeiro. Since that time, there has been no sign of this Cyclops again to this date.

Another case of the unknown is Mary Celeste. This merchant vessel was discovered in the Atlantic Ocean in the year 1872 without its crew. The ship’s cargo was undamaged and to this date, the reason why the crew left the ship remains a mystery.

Lost Planes

Of all the cases that have been reported to have occurred in the Bermuda Triangle, one of the most famous is the case of Flight 19. On December 5, 1945, five U. S. Navy torpedo bombers conducting a training mission disappeared. A search and rescue plane that was sent to look for the teams also disappeared, and all the teams were never heard from again.

One other event was the case of Star Tiger, a passenger airline that went missing in 1948 while en route to Bermuda. The aircraft and the people on board the aircraft totaling thirty-one were never seen again.

Possible Explanations

Several theories have been proposed to explain the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle:

Natural Phenomena: Others tip the severe and unpredictable climate and currents of the seas, which may result in disappearing without a trace. Especially, it is believed that underwater methane gas explosions could sink ships.

Magnetic Anomalies: This area is said to have magnetic discrepancies that lead to compassing issues. This may result in ships and planes altering their path and getting lost.

Human Error: Technological failure and wrong route are also cited as some of the reasons that lead to the losses.

Paranormal Theories: Others have attempted to attribute these cases to other paranormal causes such as the existence of aliens, and time slips.

Conclusion

Over the years, the Bermuda Triangle has gained a lot of attention from the public with many incidents of disappearance. Despite the attempts made by scientific explanations to explain most of these incidents, the Bermuda Triangle to this day continues to puzzle everyone.

This situation remains to be rather exciting and, at the same time, rather frightening for the region. It is only a matter of time before future research will be able to solve the riddle of this mystery.
